Le parcours de cet artiste belge (1889-1972), pacifiste, antimilitariste et humaniste. Il a illustré les écrits de Zola, Zweig et Mann, privilégiant la gravure sur bois. Ses romans en gravure, qu'il fait paraître à partir de 1918, ont influencé la naissance du roman graphique.
